Custom Orthotics for Feet

Our feet are the structural foundation of our entire body.  Our feet offer support when we stand, walk and run. They also protect our spine from excessive compressive forces. When we experience compromised foot and ankle biomechanics, such as loss of the normal arches (flat feet) or foot and ankle pronation (abnormal wear patterns on the bottoms of our shoes), we are susceptible to biomechanical imbalances which can contribute to fatigue, misalignments, and pain. This pain can not only occur in the foot and ankles, but also in other areas of our body.  If you feel pain in your lower back or have chronic headaches caused by biomechanical dysfunction in your spine that is caused by unbalanced positioning in your feet, you are likely a candidate for custom-made foot orthotics.

Custom-made orthotics are specifically made to stabilize abnormal biomechanical function not only in the foot and ankle, but the entire body including the spine.  Over the counter shoe inserts cannot give you the specific support and placement that your feet need to maintain proper biomechanical positioning.  

Dr. Van Riper has extensive experience in determining who is an appropriate candidate for orthotic therapy and which orthotics, as well as orthotic modifications, will be right for you based on your clinical needs and your foot wear. Our orthotics will be ordered directly through River Ridge and will arrive within 7-10 business days. Upon arrival, Dr. Van Riper will examine your foot in the orthotics to ensure you've gotten the proper fit.
