Dr. Roger Van Riper D.C., D.A.C.R.B, C.S.C.S.

I was introduced to chiropractic care after suffering a serious lower back injury while participating in high school wrestling. I initially sought traditional medical care with our family practice physician and was ultimately referred to an orthopedic specialist and participated in numerous courses of physical therapy and outpatient rehabilitation.

Though the care I received from these individuals was competent and caring, ultimately my ongoing lower back pain would not allow me to participate in any rigorous physical activities including sports participation.

At the advice of a family friend, I decided to seek chiropractic care after I was told by my medical providers that my lower back pain and physical limitations would be permanent and that I could no longer perform the activities that I enjoyed.

I was very fortunate to be referred to a chiropractor who was not only skilled in the utilization of hands-on chiropractic joint manipulative therapy but also understood that there was a postural, muscle and inflammatory component to my condition. My chiropractor utilized a combination of chiropractic care, massage therapy, and specific rehabilitative exercises. Upon completion of my chiropractic care plan, my lower back pain had stabilized and I was able to return to all activities including both high school and college athletics.

Chiropractic was truly life-changing for me & was my motivation to obtain the training and experience necessary to help others in the profound way that my chiropractor had helped me.

I graduated from Northwestern Health Sciences University in 1992 and began practicing in Sioux Falls, SD in 1993 when I had the honor to take over the practice of Dr. Donald McDowell, who retired after 55 years of dedicated service to his patients and community. While I'm a native of Montana, I feel fortunate to have found a home in Sioux Falls. In my free time, I'm an avid outdoors-man who enjoys hunting, fishing, spending time with my family and my yellow labs.
